The mission of the Folk School of St. Louis is to build community by providing educational programs that promote the learning, teaching, renewal, and perpetuation of traditional music and folk arts.
The Folk School is building a community of musicians working together to strengthen and preserve our musical heritage. The Folk School offers opportunities for students to gather both informally and formally to make, enjoy, and celebrate music.

With years of experience playing professionally, our instructors bring a depth of knowledge unmatched in the area. They offer an intimate knowledge of their instruments as well as passion for sharing that knowledge. Our faculty members are able to distill complex musical concepts, making them accessible to students of all levels. Our children’s class instructors have years of experience working with kids, including playing music at the Saint Louis Zoo and performing children’s concerts.
